The VersaPlanetary Lite takes everything you know and love about the VersaPlanetary V2, and puts it into a lightweight plastic form factor. The VersaPlanetary Lite is perfect for the FIRST® Tech Challenge, and low-stress FIRST® Robotics Competition applications.
The VersaPlanetary Lite uses a plastic housing and ring gear, made from 30% Glass Filled Nylon. In addition to its high wear resistance and tensile strength, Glass Filled Nylon dissipates heat better than other commonly used plastics.
Don’t worry, the VersaPlanetary Lite uses the same gear sets as the VersaPlanetary. In fact, one of its cooler features is that you can mix and match components from the original VersaPlanetary, and the VersaPlanetary Lite. For example, you could use a plastic input and output with a metal ring gear, or a metal input and output with a plastic ring gear.
Similar to the VersaPlanetary V2, the VP Lite is held together with screws that install on the "back" (motor side) of the housing. This means that the gearbox can be disassembled to change gearsets without removing the gearbox output from the robot.
Other features include:
- A spline interface between motor/gear set/encoders/ratchets/shaft that reduces backlash in the system
- Adapts to a variety of FRC motors (BAG, RS-550, RS-775, 775pro, Redline, AM-9015)
- Adapts to a variety of FTC motors (AndyMark NeveRest, REV HD Hex Motor, Tetrix TorqueNADO)
- 5 output shaft options make integration easy
